PODCAST INTERVIEW

GUEST INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for your willingness to be a guest on the Smidgen of Proof podcast!

Below are a few things you need to know before your interview. Following these instructions will help things run smoothly during the interview and help you sound your best.

PODCAST PURPOSE

The purpose of this podcast is to explore how digital transformation and total experience shape our daily decisions and how we, in turn, influence the technology around us. We’ll dive into the impact of tech on our lives and uncover insights that help professionals excel while navigating a rapidly changing world.

Podcast Guest Preparation Guide

Welcome! We’re excited to have you on our podcast. To ensure the best possible experience, please review the following guidelines and technical requirements before your interview.

Platform and Scheduling

We use Riverside.fm and Zoom. You will be sent pre-recording instructions and guidelines prior to your scheduled recording day.

For Riverside.fm

  • Recording Platform: We will use Riverside.fm to conduct the interview.
  • No Account Required: You do not need to create a Riverside.fm account.
  • Joining the Interview: A unique Riverside link will be added to the podcast calendar invite, which you can use to join the interview.
  • Browser Requirements: Please use the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge for the best experience.
For Zoom App
  • Recording Platform: We will use Zoom App to conduct the interview.
  • No Account Required: You will need to create a free Zoom account.
  • Joining the Interview: A meeting link will be added to the podcast calendar invite, which you can use to join the interview.
  • Browser Requirements: Please use the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge for the best experience.

Equipment and Setup
  • Pre-Recording Setup: We will take a few minutes before starting the formal recording to ensure everything is set up correctly and the audio/video quality is good. Please review these guidelines prior to the scheduled podcast recording time to ensure we can begin promptly.
  • Camera Usage: Please turn on your camera. The podcast will be recorded in both audio and video formats, and we will post and promote both versions.
  • Recording Process:
    • I will start recording as soon as you join the session to capture any valuable insights that might come up before the formal interview starts.
    • I will notify you when the formal interview begins.
    • At the end of the show, we’ll pause for about 4-5 seconds before stopping the recording.
  • Audio Quality:
    • If you have a proper microphone or earphones with a built-in mic (e.g., iPhone earbuds), please use them to avoid echo and ensure clear audio quality.
    • If you don’t have access to an external mic, your computer’s built-in microphone will suffice.
  • Environment:
    • Find a quiet room for the interview. Rooms with carpet and fewer windows provide better audio quality by reducing echo.
    • Silence your cell phone and close all programs on your computer that might produce sounds (e.g., email notifications, messaging apps).
    • Try to remain still during the interview—no moving around, driving, or using a treadmill!
    • Maintain a consistent distance from your microphone to ensure clear and even audio.
Post Recording
  • After we finish the interview, please keep Riverside.fm open on your browser until the upload reaches 100%. Since video and audio are recorded locally and then uploaded, this ensures that the files are complete and avoids any potential connection issues.
  • We aim for a smooth and professional recording, so please be mindful of background noise and distractions.
  • Although each episode will be edited, we want to minimize the need for extensive editing so that all your fantastic insights are preserved.
INTERVIEW DURATION AND FORMAT

The podcast interview will last from 30-45 minutes. I will ask questions about your experience in digital transformation and change management as it applies to your role.

Here’s a rough outline of how the interview will unfold. While I aim for a conversational approach, and we might not follow this structure precisely, it serves as a helpful guide for the flow of our discussion.

  1. Intro – I’ll introduce you as our guest. It will be short because I will add a longer intro during the editing process.
  2. Background – You’ll briefly tell our audience about your background.
  3. Questions to get you to share your insights, lessons, and advice – We’ll then chat about the following:
  • Evolving in a Technology-Driven World:
      1. As technology rapidly evolves, how have you redefined your approach to your work? Whether you’re in HR, IT, or operations, what has surprised you most about the way technology is reshaping your industry, and how have you embraced that change?
  • Guiding Teams Through Transformation:
      1. When faced with the unknowns of digital transformation, how do you inspire your team to stay engaged and motivated? What methods have you found most impactful in navigating through uncertainty while fostering innovation and collaboration?
  • Shaping the Future While Staying Grounded:
    1. With so many emerging technologies at our fingertips, how do you decide which to explore and which to set aside? Can you share a time when you had to balance innovation with the practical needs of your organization, and how you approached that decision-making process?
  1. Closing remarks – You can drop some parting words of wisdom. I’ll specifically ask you to share advice for others navigating technology and people transformation.

GROUND RULES

  • Be yourself! Listeners want to connect with who you are so they can take your insights and advice to heart.
  • Do not mention any specific clients.
  • Do not say anything bad about clients. You can talk about challenges with clients generally but not anything that can be traced to a specific client.
  • Feel free to indicate your firm or company, if you work for one. Ensure that you have permission to say their name. If not, just say what type of work you do and the type of firm or company you work for.
  • Feel free to ask me questions during the interview!

POST-INTERVIEW INFO

  • I’ll let you know when your interview is launched and tell you how it was received by listeners. Your interview will be available on my website, Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Podcast, and YouTube.
  • I’ll be your biggest advocate, spreading the word about how amazing your episode turned out! I’ll also encourage you to share the episode with your network and marketing channels, and I’ll provide some tailored guidance on the best times to promote it.
